Biography
Dr. Chen earned her PhD degree from Yale University. As a PI at Karp Family Research Laboratories, Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor of Department of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, and Principal Investigator at Vascular Biology Program in Boston Children's Hospital. Her research interests include VEGF signaling, vascular and lymphatic vascular development and remodeling, epsin, atherosclerosis, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cancer biology, therapeutics. Her group's development of a number of novel genetic mouse models has aided in their discovery of the emerging targets involved in regulating endocytosis in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Through these genetic approaches combined with an arsenal of biochemical, molecular and cellular, and bioinformatic techniques, her group continues in their quest to elucidate the molecular mechanisms responsible and therapeutic potential of novel molecular targets in aforesaid disorders. Dr. Chen received the Irvine H. Page Young Investigator Research Award from the Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, American Heart Association in 2013, the Established Investigator Award from the American Heart Association in 2015, and the Alan T. Hirsch, MD Mid-Career Investigator Award in Vascular Medicine from the American Heart Association in 2018. Dr. Chen also served on the Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Woman's Leadership Committee. Dr. Chen is currently serving on the Programing Committee for American Heart Association Annual Scientific Sessions. Dr. Chen served as Vice Chair for the 2022 Gordon Research Conference on Lymphatics. Dr. Chen has also been appointed as Chair for the forthcoming 2024 Gordon Research Conference on Lymphatic Vessels as Multifaceted Regulators of Health and Disease. Dr. Chen is also Chairing the Vascular Biology Program's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at Boston Children's Hospital.
