Biography
Dr. Jun Yu is an Associate Professor with
tenure at the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences and the Center for
Metabolic Disease Research at Temple University. He completed medical training
at the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China. Following
postdoctoral research at Yale University in New Haven, USA, he became an
Assistant Professor at Yale, then moved to Temple University in 2016. The
long-term goal of Dr. Yu’s research program is to understand the molecular
control of inflammatory cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Yu and his laboratory have
made seminal contributions to the field of vascular remodeling,
ischemia-induced angiogenesis, and atherogenesis. Dr. Yu has published over 80
original papers in high-impact scientific journals, including Nature Medicine,
JCI, and PNAS, with over 7500 citations and an h-index of 43. His contribution
to cardiovascular research has earned him the prestigious American Heart
Association (AHA) Established Investigator Award in 2018
and the Alan T. Hirsch, MD Mid-Career Award in Vascular Medicine in 2021.
Dr. Yu is also a dedicated educator
both in the classroom and in the laboratory. He currently gives over ten
lectures to medical, Ph.D., dental, and podiatry students at Temple University
each year. He is actively involved in community services within Temple as well
as extramurally. Dr. Yu is an AHA service award recipient. He is an active
reviewer for NIH, NASA, and AHA. He serves as an editorial board member and/or
reviewer for numerous high-impact journals, including Nature Medicine,
Circulation, JCI, JEM, Circulation Research, and JBC.
