Yabing Chen, PhD, is currently Professor and Vice Chair in the Department
of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), as well as Senior
Research Career Scientist at the Birmingham Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical
Center. Dr. Chen’s research program focuses on studying the molecular
mechanisms of vascular smooth cells regulation and contribution to the
pathogenesis of vascular disease, including vascular calcification in
atherosclerosis, arterial stiffness, diabetic vasculopathy as well as vascular
aging. She has been a regular member on
several grant review panels as well as award review committees for the NIH, VA
and AHA; and has served as an editorial board member for Circulation Research, Arteriosclerosis,
Thrombosis and Vascular Biology，Frontier in cardiovascular Medicine, and the
Journal of Biological Chemistry and
a Guest Associate Editor for several journals on Special Topics on
cardiovascular disease. Dr. Chen is an elected Fellow of the American Heart
Association and chair of the ATVB Committee on Scientific Sessions Program of
the AHA. She has received the prestigous
“Vascular Biology Special Recognition Award” from the AHA Council on
Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology and the “Senior Research
Career Scientist Award” from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
