Summary of CAAC-MPVB events in May 6, 2015, San Francisco

Dear Friends:

We had a successful CAAC-MPVB "Metabolic Vascular Disease Symposium" and "China Night" on May 6, 2015 in San Francisco, an official satellite meeting of AHA ATVB Scientific Session sponsored by AHA.

This event was a great success and we were delighted to welcome more than 100 participants from around the world, including China, USA, Japan, Sweden, and Belgium. ATVB conference Vice Chair, Dr. Philip Tsao, gave an introduction speech at the Metabolic Vascular Disease Symposium which was chaired by Drs. Yi Zhu and Y. Eugene Chen. Featured scientific presentations were presented by renowned scientists in this field including Drs. Jie Du, Hong Wang, Nanping Wang, Yabing Chen, Wei Kong, Hong Chen, Rong Zeng, and Yixue Li. Nine selected young investigators then gave oral presentations to compete for Young Investigator Award (YIA). Congratulations to our YIA winners and finalists, Hanrui Zhang (First Place), Xiaoli Sun and Jun Yu (shared Second Place), and Ning Shi, Jiyeon Yang, Jing Liu, Xizhen Xu, Hang Xi, and Dan Li (Outstanding Presentation Awards)! CAAC-MPVB China Night following the symposium was chaired by Drs. Jie Du and Ming-Hui Zou. Drs. Yi Zhu and Hong Wang presented current progress and future plans of MPVB and CAAC. Drs. Xian Wang and Youyi Zhang then introduced MPVB officials and colleagues. Drs. Larry Pinkus and Natalia Komissarova from NIH also gave an introduction and presented important information about NIH study sections focusing vascular biology research. The evening session was featured by a Keynote Speech presented by Dr. Muredach Reilly, ATVB conference Chair from University of Pennsylvania. American Heart Association ATVB council Chair and Vice Chair, Drs. Kathryn Moore and Steve Lentz presented leadership remarks to conclude the evening session. The evening session was then followed with Karaoke and many of our colleagues attend this event and shared the stages with our guests including Drs. Alan Daugherty, Muredach Reilly, and Larry Pinkus.

Special thanks to our colleagues from China, Japan, and Europe who travelled long distance to attend our event.� Also thanks to Drs. Miao Wang, Changcheng Zhou, Yabing Chen, Shiyou Chen, and Zhengguo Liu for their important contribution to the success of the event.
